Who We Are
Migration and Rights Lab (MaRL) is a non-profit social development think tank organisation dedicated to engaging marginalised communities and groups, including persons living with HIV/AIDS, children, youth, migrants, women, and refugees, to promote their rights and welfare in areas such as health, migration, child labour, forced labour, human trafficking, livelihood development, social inclusion, and climate change adaptation. MaRL collaborates with various stakeholders, including community members, coalitions, civil society organisations, and policymakers, to pool their collective skills, resources, and experience in creating shared analysis and action plans. Through our community- and rights-based approaches and human-centred development strategies, we advocate for rights and justice, raising awareness to foster community resistance and cohesion against discrimination and human rights abuses.
We are recognised for our community-based and rights-driven approaches, as well as our dedication to human-centred development. Our work integrates research, direct programming, and advocacy to enhance accountability, minimise vulnerabilities, and improve service delivery for those most at risk.

Goal
Our main aim is to foster a participatory environment for dialogue on human rights, migration governance, and rural development grounded in evidence and rights-based approaches.
Vision
A society where marginalised populations are protected from exploitation, have access to opportunities, and live with dignity and rights upheld.
Our Mission
To collaborate with communities, individuals, and institutions in developing and delivering participatory interventions that address vulnerability and promote justice, inclusion, and sustainable development.
Our Philosophy & Values
Our underpinning philosophy is that migration and human rights are essential for human and social capital development, and that rule of law ensures human safety and dignity. These can be attained under the general atmosphere of:
- Evidence-based research, monitoring, and evaluation
- Access to development and social protection services
- Efficient functioning of the rule of law
- Strengthened civil society, media, and coalitions
- Gender-sensitive, victim-centered, and rights-based approaches to policy and program interventions
- Strengthened community and grassroots capacity and participation
- None-discrimination: tolerance, fairness, justice, inclusion, equality, and equity
