Theme: Migrant Recruitment – Ensuring Safety and Security

Venue:  Bono East Region
Date: March 2020

Synopsis

The main objective of the Regional migration forum is to bring together stakeholders to dialogue and share experiences on safe migrant recruitment by agencies and potential beneficiaries.

Labor migrant recruitment and jobs require a range of information processes that generate measurable selectivity in who is hired, when and for what purposes. Labor migration is either the result of individual decisions by prospective movers on the best way to make returns on their human or social capital or the State’s outcome in opening up national labor markets to limited flows of individuals with specific skills and in the process licensing recruitment agencies to recruit labour for domestic or international industries. Labor migration flows are also formed by international labor recruitment network tentacles that funnel labor from source regions through often-unrecognized social and cultural processes through hiring agents and other transnational economic actors.

The event will bring together several stakeholders including but not limited to Regional Minister, District and Municipal Chief Executives, Assembly Members, relevant government agencies including Labour Department, Ghana Immigration Service, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Ghana Police Service, Department of Social Welfare, Religious Leaders, Traditional Authority, Recruitment Agencies, returned migrants and community members.
